Russia: Moscow, Minsk reach principal agreement in oil dispute

MOSCOW, Mar 23 (PRIME) -- Russia and Belarus have reached principal agreement in their oil dispute the Russian government said in a statement on March 21 following a phone conversation of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and his Belarussian counterpart Sergei Rumas.

“Mikhail Mishustin and Sergei Rumas discussed urgent issues of trade and economic relations of Russia and Belarus and integrational cooperation in the Union State and in the Eurasian Economic Union. The governments heads noted the achievement of principal agreements of the cooperation parameters in the oil sphere that take into account mutual interests of the sides,” the statement read.

“Implementation of these agreements would ensure delivery of Russian oil to the oil refining companies of the Republic of Belarus in full and at the coordinated conditions.”

During the phone conversation, Mishustin and Rumas also discussed the situation with the coronavirus, and Rumas supported Russia’s decision to ensure transit of Belarusians home from third countries through Russia.
